Students must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. Those who participate in the PGCC Federal Work-Study program may add this work experience to their resume. Federal Work-Study gives students the opportunity to serve on the PGCC campus and in local communities, and it helps students develop leadership skills. Work experience adds value to a student's education and, over time, helps develop professional traits that enhance academic and career success. Through student employment, Prince George's Community College (PGCC) is able to offer another option for center-based learning. This orientation is for both new and returning FWS students, regardless of their previous activity with this program. Students interested in participating in FWS should complete the Federal Work-Study Application.įederal Work-Study participants must complete a mandatory two-hour interactive workshop orientation. For priority consideration, students must meet the Prince George's Community College priority filing deadline of March 1. To be considered for FWS, a student must demonstrate financial need, and funds must be available to award. Hourly wage rates vary depending on the complexity of the work performed. Instead, work-study participants receive a biweekly paycheck for hours worked, which should not exceed 20 hours per week. Funds are not credited to student accounts.
